Shreveport Country Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The course first opened for play in 1909. Leon Howard (1958), Joe Finger (1960) and Dave Bennett (1990) have done redesigns on the course.
This course has narrow, tree-lined fairways. The terrain is rolling, and the greens are medium-sized and extremely fast. Several creeks and drainage ditches bisect the fairways and force lay-ups or long carries.
The signature hole is #9, a 565-yard, par 5, requiring uphill shots from tee to green.
Gold tees: par-72, 6,554 yards, 71.9 / 130
Blue tees: par-72, 6,234 yards, 70.4 / 126
White tees: par-72, 6,004 yards, 69.3 / 125
Black tees: par-72, 5,470 yards, 66.9 / 119
Red tees: par-72, 5,526 yards, 71.6 / 126
The course closed in October 2016.
The 117-year-old Shreveport (La.) Country Club, which had been operated by a non-profit affiliated with the Rev. Denny Duron for the past seven years, has closed, the Shreveport-based KTBS reported.
Managers of the club said they would re-evaluate the operation and decide what to do with the property, which includes a golf course and clubhouse. The country club ceased operations on October 3. No reason was given, KTBS reported.
“We have now come to a season, however, where we must conclude the formal operations of club membership and activity,” a statement on the club’s Facebook page said. “For an indefinite time period, we will be restructuring our plans and seeking the best use of the facilities and grounds of the Shreveport Country Club.”
